Sweet Stationery I Need

stationery.jpg

Here are a couple of stationery items from the blogoshpere that I want, I will be downloading and I will be buying (clockwise from top left) …

  • I Want It: Custom Stationery from Rifle Paper Co.
That adorable little portrait is custom made of you for your stationery set.  For us marrieds you can even opt to have two portraits painted of you and your significant other.  Unfortunately this stationery is beyond my means … hence why I said I want it.
  • I Am Downloading It: Save Me Bookmarks
I found these FREE downloadable bookmarks labeled “Save Me” at Swiss Miss.  They will come in handy since I just joined a book club (I use the word “club” loosely since there is a total of 2 members).  Did I mention they are FREE?
  • I am Buying It: Owl Post Mailing Kits
Here in Orlando we are preparing for the opening of Harry Potter’s Wizarding World at Universal Studios. With Harry fever going around these Owl Kits I found through Paper Crave might be fun.  I know there is some Potter-phile out there that is going to love getting this from me.  I just dont know who yet.
  • I am Ordering It: Custom Calligraphy Return Address Stamps
I just moved so these custom return address stamps from Primele are very appropriate.  This was another great find from Swiss Miss.

Sock It To Me!

sockittome.jpg

Like my socks?  Aren’t they freaking adorable?!!

I just got them from this site called Sock It To Me, an Portland based company that makes funky, colorful socks at a budget friendly price (knee-highs are 7.50).

I spent about 30 minutes just flipping through the plethora of great patterns and colors … these argyles are by far my fave.

Sock it to Me was nice enough to let me interview the owner, Carrie Atkinson, 31.  I had to ask …

Why socks?” What made you start a business making them?

While I was in Korea, teaching English, I purchased a pair of socks that were a better quality than any I’d ever seen or worn before. Plus, they were very affordable, and their cute knee high styles stood out. At that point, you couldn’t find those styles in the states. So I bought a small batch, tried them at the Portland Saturday Market, and the people responded. As they bought more, I bought more. And then I started going around to the local shops, asking if they would carry some styles, as well. They did, and they loved them. Ultimately, we had a very organic growth.

Have you thought about expanding to other accessories or clothing?  Like maybe gloves or scarves with your cool patterns?

We’re currently researching the market, hoping to move into panties with coordinating tank tops and comfort wear.

I really liked the “cool girls” section of your site.  Who picks these women and what are you looking for when you decide on a cool girl of the month?

I am often the one to choose the Cool Girls, but also rely on the help of a writer I’ve hired to conduct the interviews.
We’re always keeping are eyes out for the next Cool Girl. Sometimes we pick women who are doing something a little out of the norm.  And sometimes we pick women who have jobs in what are typically assumed to be “male jobs” like sports, math, and science. Just last week, I was at a conference where a women on panel had a PhD in neuroscience. I was impressed by her hard work and admired her diligence, so after the talk, I asked if she would be interested in being featured as a Cool Girl. Of course, she happily accepted.

Browsing WeddingStar for Last Minute Decorations …

We are officially one month, 2 weeks and 2 days from our wedding!  I am so happy to be finally coming to the end but I still have a lot of things left to accomplish in only one month!  My dress isn’t altered, I don’t have shoes, we haven’t picked out any wedding music at all and that is just the beginning.

I still need some wedding decorations so I have been searching WeddingStar for some last minute ideas.  Like for instance, we don’t have a wedding topper.  I always thought wedding cake toppers were a bit cheesy and I was thinking of just going with flowers on top but look at this cute topper …

I think this one is pretty unique and a little romantic.   Not as silly as the typical “bride dragging groom” but not as boring as the “traditional plastic couple” which has gone out of fashion.  I don’t know?  Should I skip a topper?

WeddingStar also had guest books which is something I hadn’t thought about.  I suppose it would be a nice place for guests to leave their good wishes, but does anyone actually ever look at the guest book after-the-fact?  I will have the photos.  Maybe I could just save the cards the guests give me?  I am thinking I might be able to take the cards and make a little guest book out of them.

My theme is already picked out and my favors are already purchased but I loved these cute little nest favors that they had.  They were very affordable and would go great with a “love bird” themed wedding.  Maybe an outdoor affair.

I am going to be doing something a little closer to what’s below … but I am not giving details yet.  You will have to wait and see after the wedding!
