Browsing WeddingStar for Last Minute Decorations …

We are officially one month, 2 weeks and 2 days from our wedding!  I am so happy to be finally coming to the end but I still have a lot of things left to accomplish in only one month!  My dress isn’t altered, I don’t have shoes, we haven’t picked out any wedding music at all and that is just the beginning.

I still need some wedding decorations so I have been searching WeddingStar for some last minute ideas.  Like for instance, we don’t have a wedding topper.  I always thought wedding cake toppers were a bit cheesy and I was thinking of just going with flowers on top but look at this cute topper …

caketopper.jpg

I think this one is pretty unique and a little romantic.   Not as silly as the typical “bride dragging groom” but not as boring as the “traditional plastic couple” which has gone out of fashion.  I don’t know?  Should I skip a topper?

WeddingStar also had guest books which is something I hadn’t thought about.  I suppose it would be a nice place for guests to leave their good wishes, but does anyone actually ever look at the guest book after-the-fact?  I will have the photos.  Maybe I could just save the cards the guests give me?  I am thinking I might be able to take the cards and make a little guest book out of them.

My theme is already picked out and my favors are already purchased but I loved these cute little nest favors that they had.  They were very affordable and would go great with a “love bird” themed wedding.  Maybe an outdoor affair.

I am going to be doing something a little closer to what’s below … but I am not giving details yet.  You will have to wait and see after the wedding!

Go Shopping at Pebble.com

 iphone_skins.jpg

Have I mentioned that Mr. Juicefairy and I got iPhones.  We have been waiting for six months for our old cellphone contract to expire so we could make the move to AT&T and buy our new favorite gadget.  It has its flaws (more on that soon) but overall they are pretty brilliant and we are addicted to them.  We come home and brag about the new apps we’ve downloaded, twitter during dinner (p.s follow juicefairy on twitter) and even sleep with them under our pillows … ok not the last thing.

I’ve wanted to get some accessories for mine but I spent so much on the phone already I needed to find a bargain.  So I hit up this new comparative shopping website called pebble.com

First I searched for skins on Pebble and a bunch of cute colored ones popped up that were all competitively priced.  After flipping a bit I found a blue one for a dime!  Um yeah, $.10!  So I click on the link and it brings me to Amazon, the vendor selling the skin, and the price had actually dropped to $.01!  Now it does have a $2.50 shipping fee.  But that still means the skin is 2.51!  These are typically priced at Office Max for $20 a pop.

Then I decided to search for a car charger.  I found a car accessory kit for only $7.48.  Great price, but I had never heard of the brand so I was skeptical.  One of the things I like about Pebble is that they have included a forum so you can ask other shoppers questions about the product.  It takes all the guess-work out of shopping.

Can’t wait to get my iPhone accessories.  Try out Pebble.com and let me know what you think.

Our Pick For New Bedding

The Juicefairys had a very productive weekend!  We already picked out a bedding set we liked.  We headed back over to Bed Bath & Beyond yesterday and looked at some of our options again. We learned the importance of buying bedding in person very quickly.  The Luxe Sky Duvet by Raymond Waites set I mentioned in my last post was nothing like it looked online.  The design was not nearly as pretty.  Many of the comforters were also pretty flat, and a little cheap looking and some were silk with embellishments that did not look very comfortable to sleep with.  We ended up going with this …

Medallion Aqua Full/Queen Quilt, Bed Bath & Beyond, $129.99

We liked the color and simple contemporary design of this set.  It looks so much prettier in person.  The colors in this pic are pretty bland.  It was also a comfortable cotton that I could imagine using if it got cold.  We decided to order a solid cotton duvet in sage that matches this set to use underneath this coverlet (they call it a quilt but it is pretty lightweight so I think it is more of a coverlet).  I think I am also going to register for some solid colored pillows so it isn’t so much of the noisy design in the bedroom.  I think all of these pillows with that embroidery is a bit much.

For those of you also searching for affordable bedding, here are some other ones that I liked …

Seville 12-Piece Quilt Set, Bed Bath & Beyond, $149.99

Queen set includes quilt, bed-skirt, two standard shams, two European shams, one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, two standard pillowcases, one 12″ x 16″ breakfast pillow and one 16″ x 16″ toss pillow.  That is a lot of stuff so I think it is a pretty good deal.  It is very pretty in person and not at all this color in photo.  It is more of a blue/green.

If I didn’t have pets I would go all white like this.  How inviting does that look?

Where Can I Find Beautiful Bedding?

The other day I wrote about my uncomfortable registering experience with Mr. Juicefairy.  It got me thinking about what I could add to our registry that we need and I thought of something … bedding!

A while back I posted when I purchased the duvet set I have now; a pretty solid blue-green set from Restoration Hardware that was on clearance for around $50.  It was very pretty … until I washed it!  Two or three washes in the duvet started getting pink spots on it.  I have no idea where they came from.  I know it’s not bleach because we don’t use bleach in the laundry.  Anyway, now it has been a year and a half and its looking pretty shabby.  I guess I only got my $50 worth.

We also only have one set of sheets, so from many many washings I have had to sew the many seams that have come undone.  My sheets have seen better days. I would love to have two new sets that I can rotate.

So now I am once again on the search for a new duvet set.  I found the blog Bedding Envy which posts a bedding new set everyday and it has been helpful.  I also have been  searching the websites of my favorite stores Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, Pottery Barn & Restoration Hardware looking at what they have.  I just have not had any luck finding what I want yet.  Partially because I don’t want to spend more an $120 on a duvet.  Anything more seems extravagent for something I sleep on I think.  The other thing is that it has to be a shade of blue.  Mr. Juicefairy will really only be happy if it’s blue.

Does anyone have a duvet with a coverlet over it?  Do people do that anymore?  It would be nice to have a plain duvet that I can wash regularly and then have a pretty coverlet for show.

Here are a few contenders of duvets.  Not sure if any are “the one” though.  Anyone have any ideas of a place I haven’t looked at yet?  Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone buy anything from Overstock before?  I have never heard of this brand before so I am afraid that it will look cheap when I get it home.

Sadly this is not a duvet which is too bad.  But it is pretty so maybe I could try it?
