Things On My Mind …

I am just going to share some link love with everyone this week.  It is the best I could muster up since my brain feels it’s melting from the hundreds of wedding details I have been mulling over.  I am having fun with the planning, it’s just that I wish I could turn it off sometimes and not think about it.

So speaking of weddings my co-worker sent me the best wedding invite ever.  It really is so unique and fun.

I caught a few videos on MTV/VH1 recently and noticed grown-ups in furry animal costumes kept popping up (i.e Jaime Foxx Blame It On The Alcohol, Lady Gaga Just Dance).  What is up with the furry animal costumes?  Candy Galore wrote a post with a few music video links that had more furry costumes in it.  She did not have an answer for me though.  Now I know I am old, because I just don’t get the joke.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey just aired their finale and I have to admit I was a little disappointed in this cast.  I honestly liked all of the women, except for Danielle, and I didn’t think their lives were that outlandish, except for Danielle.  So the show didn’t really get me excited but it was a crazy finale!  I honestly don’t know who was telling the truth in that room.  They all have may been lying a little bit.  Well, now there is more bad publicity for Danielle: Steve is now putting out a sex tape of them together.  This lady just makes one bad choice after another.  Anyway, if you are a Real Housewives fan like myself you should go to this link and take the “Which Real Housewives Show Do You Belong On?” quiz.  I apparently would fit in with the New York crowd. I love my hometown so I would be glad to join the cast.  I’ll have my agent call their agent.

And speaking of New York, how cool is this print, posted by Oh Joy?

Since Mr. Juicefairy is a big Howard Stern fan we subscribe to Howard TV.  They put up most of their celebrity interviews and recently I watched an interview with Eliza Dushku where she looked great.  If you can see in the video she was wearing skin-colored fishnets with skin-colored heels.  I would never have thought to wear flesh-colored shoes but they made her legs look so much longer.  It really was a cool look.  You Look Fab had an article about skin colored shoes and I now I am kind of interested in how I would look in these.  Wish I had legs like Eliza.

I am supposed to get my new iphone tonight.  And as soon as I get it I am downloading this app.  Told you wedding was always on my mind.

We are doing a So You Think You Can Dance pool at work which I am having so much fun with right now.  Every week after the Wednesday night episode we pick who will end up being the bottom three couples and which girl and guy we think the judges will send home.  You get one point for each couple you get right and three for each person sent home you get right.  I am having so much fun picking every week.  I am in third place now because of the surprise cutting of Max this week.  Has anyone else heard the rumor that Katie Holmes is going to dance on the show to promote an anniversary DVD of Wizard of Oz.  Honestly that is just silly and she should stay home and watch it on the couch.  I want to see real dancers on the show.

So Stupid

sunburn-medium.jpg

Stupid gringo that I am, I got a beauty of a sunburn on the second day in Miami.  All on the right side of my body!  Hmmm I wonder which direction the sun was coming from?  So I woke up today (day 5 in Miami) with a peeling face.  I look like I am wearing a white beard!  I have slathered on the aloe vera which has helped a little.

I am feeling very stupid right now.

Do You Sing in the Shower?

thought_bubble.gif

I find that I hum in the shower. Have you actually ever paid attention to what you are humming? I hum the most random songs. This morning I found myself humming Frosty the Snowman but most often it’s children’s folk songs from Tom Chapin that my Mom played for me as a kid. I wonder what my sister, the therapist-in-training, would say about that.

Sobriety the Next Fad?

paris_hilton.jpg

So on the radio this morning a few of the lame local radio DJs actually said something interesting! Whoa! They were talking about Lindsey Lohan’s recent arrest after driving drunk, again. She is all over every newspaper, magazine, and newscast for her recent behavior. They say… she is out of control and a drunk…She had cocaine…She is back in rehab… or no she is not! This was right on the heels of Britney Spears going off the deep end and shaving her head, flashing her undies all over (even after the infamous crotch shot), and a new interview with OK magazine where she behaved like a loon. How much further can young Hollywood really go to shock us without killing themselves?? So the DJ this morning projected that sobriety was going to be the next new thing! I have to say it is looking like he may be right.

Paris Hilton is a great example. She made a sex tape, flashed her crotch, drove drunk and we all were appalled. Then she went to jail as punishment and repented. Now she is seen frolicking sober.   She says she has learned a lesson. Paris Hilton could become the next positive role model for our children! Wow, how the tables can turn.

I don’t know about you but I am tired of reading about drunk, misbehaving, immature celebrities. I am tired of everyone’s comments on them too. Celebrities thriving off  other’s bad press by writing an open letter to them on how they should turn their life around. I think this DJ could be onto something here.  The next thing the tabloids will be writing about is a trend in Hollywood of celebrities going to church on Sunday, drinking pomegranate juice at the club and hiring designated drivers instead of bodyguards for the few occasions when they do have a sip of Cristal.

This is so romantic…

Who would have thought that a personal finance blog would contribute such a romantic story? It reminds me of the The Gift of the Magi. A couple that cares about the other so much that they are willing to sacrifice for each other.

How much is too much for a ring? Is two months salary a pretty good rule? Does it depend on the girl you are marrying and what her taste is? Or should the ring not matter, and it’s the gesture that speaks? Is the ring really a symbol of love nowadays, or a symbol of stature? Maybe it just another way to beat the Jones’.
