Harry Potter “Order of the Phoenix” A Flop?
Oh No! Hollywood Reporter wrote a review of the newest Harry Potter film. I am a big fan of the books and the movies (I know I am a nerd that reads a lot. And I like, GASP, fantasy novels!). I was so excited about this movie coming out but now I am a little scared. With quotes like this it isn’t sounding as compelling as it once was:
“a necessary film, it’s quite possibly the least enjoyable of the lot so far… Looking back, when the series is finally completed, “Phoenix” might go down as the problematic film, full of plot but little fun.”
“The series also continues its shocking waste of talent. This includes why-bother appearances by the cream of British acting: Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Thompson, David Thewlis, Richard Griffiths, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane and Ralph Fiennes.”
Well at least I read this good review of Transformers (another summer blockbuster I was looking forward too). He says
“Transformers, it turns out, is the most sure-fire bombastic entertainment we’ve had in a summer of worn-out sequels. It’s brainless, of course, but it’s effortlessly good popcorn movie fun with some of the most dazzling special effects I’ve seen in years… It’s likely to be one of the year’s biggest hits, as in a season of returning pirates and trolls and superheroes, it definitely shows us something we’ve never seen before on screen. “

Angelina Comes Clean about Brad - I Dont Think So

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Angelina is full of shit? She waited the appropriate time to address how her and Brad’s relationship started and thought that we would all forget that she is a husband stealer.
Let me just say this. Tabloids always come out with news first. Everyone guffaws and says “there is no way that headline is true” and then a few months later when the tabloids are off to something else new and juicy it starts to appear on Entertainment Tonight or even the Nightly News that the juicy headline splashed across US Weekly two months ago was actually true.
This happened with Brad and Angelina. The romance was rumored. Tabloids broke the headline that they were getting cozy. Everyone said, “No way. Jen and Brad are meant to be”. A few months later reps come forward and said the marriage with Jen and Brad had fallen apart. A few weeks after that it was corroborated that Angelina and Brad are an item. Now that a YEAR has passed, when she thinks we have all forgotten that crappy tabloid headline, Angelina comes forward and says that nothing happened when Brad and Jen were together!
Nice, try but personally I don’t buy it.

Paris Hilton stars in her own movie
Someone posted this link on a celebrity gossip forum this week. I am not sure that this is actually coming out but I wouldn’t be surprised. They have about twenty National Lampoons Movies all starring B actors (although can we really call Paris a actor). This one not only features Paris but Simon Rex, and Carmen Electra. Paris doesn’t have to do much to play this role. She is already slutty. She just has to convince us that she could ever get into a college.

Blockbuster is dying
Blockbuster has offered a holiday special to Netflix customers where you can bring in the red flaps from your Netflix rentals and get a free Blockbuster rental. Blockbuster is stretching with this one.
Netflix is a superior product. They offer a great selection of movies with added convenience and they have, and will continue, to change how families rent movies. I will never go back to renting from the video store along with many other customers. Blockbuster realized this and they started their own home delivery system for movies to compete.
But having customers come into the store for a free rental isn’t the way to get business. I guarantee I bring my red flap to the store and find some crappy movie that I think I might be able to sit through for two hours and they won’t have anymore copies to rent. I just drove my ass out of the way for some crap free movie I didn’t want to watch anyway. I sit my ass on the couch and get movies delivered direct to my door for a reason. The only way that they are going to build business is to offer great low prices, quick delivery, and a wide collection.
Here is a basic comparison of what both companies offer. I’d say they are both comparable. I am not a customer of the Blockbuster online program so I can’t comment on it. Anyone swear by Blockbuster online’s service? And another question, how is it possible that stores like Movie Gallery can hold on, even with the buyout of Hollywood video.
