Ugh. Bra Shopping…

I’ve hit the point where my favorite bras are starting to look a little shabby and it is time to hit the intimates section at the department store. I find bra shopping incredibly frustrating because I am a pretty big busted girl but I am not overweight. So I have a hard time finding a bra for a small back and a large cup. I’ve known those who have it much worse however, so I will end my complaining here. I saw a couple of tips in a recent issue of Glamour about finding the perfect bra.

  • Check out landsend.com and they have a chart on how to find your perfect fit. Truth is that most women don’t wear the right size. So this could help a lot of us avoid, spillage in the front or under the arms, gaps that make our blouse pucker out, or boobs that seem to hover at the just above the navel.
  • Glamour also suggested figleaves.com as a good place to find a variety of brand names and sizes. I really need to try a bra on to find a good fit but this could be useful if you have a style you really like already.
  • Here is a personal tip. I really like Gilligan O’Maley Ultimate bras from Target. They are very inexpensive so they wont last forever but they come in fun colors, have good support, and are very comfortable.
  • This I thought was interesting. Glamour says “wear it once, wash it once – 100 times, and it’s time to retire.” How many bras do they think I own??!! I need my bras to last at least 11 wears! So follow this tip from them for cleaning…
  • Hook shut, fold in half and tuck straps into cups. Wash in a lingerie bag with mild detergent and hand dry.
