Design Your Dream Wedding Gown

I really hope that I not only have a better dress than this on my wedding day but I also don’t look this strange.
iVillage sent me an email today that caught my attention. Brides-to-be can use iVillage’s “Build Your Dream Dress” web application to see what dress style will be most flattering on their body.
I headed to the site and put this lovely number together (top). The drawing is a little pitiful and the only thing slightly reminiscent of my figure on this chick is her slightly over-sized boobs. But if you are bored at your job (like I was) this may entertain you for ten minutes or so.

I Like Shoes … Betch!

I don’t think I have ever actually bought a pair of shoes from Target. Usually, I find them to be uncomfortable and not that fashionable. But that was when I could buy clothing and shoes without worry… now I am try to save money and shoes are not something I can splurge on anymore.
I saw this cute pair of Loeffler Randall for Target flats in a magazine and figured I would check out the other stuff they have right now. Look at all of the great deals I found. I would wear any one of these! Don’t worry I am still on my spending fast this week so I didn’t buy anything. But I do have a few things bookmarked.
Loeffler Randall for Target “Rosette” - $29.99
Mossimo Dani Cross-Toe Flats - Gold - $6.24

Sunglass Rut
I have a pretty amazing boyfriend. He knows that on a trip to West Virginia I scratched my only pair of sunglasses pretty badly. I complain every time I put them on but really haven’t had the money to replace them. Plus I wear glasses and the non-prescription pair I had just weren’t cutting it anymore. I need my glasses for driving more and more, but in the middle of the day I find myself wincing so hard I get a headache. It Florida for God’s sake! So he gave me a gift certificate (a really cute homemade one) for a new pair of prescription sunglasses as a Christmas gift. So the last few weekends we have gone shopping for them. This should have been a ball. Shopping without having to actually pay for anything myself!
I had an appointment with the eye doctor to make sure that my prescription hasn’t changed and spoke to them about what I should get. Well, apparently I have an astigmatism which means that the lens has to be somewhat flat. This can be a major problem when all of the styles are over-sized frames with curved lenses. I have been to Pearl, Eyeglass World, Lens Crafters and Sunglass Hut and I can’t find anything prescription-able that I like. Every pair that I pick up has “not rx’able” on the sticker which translates to “way too cute for a girl who wears glasses”. It is like they are mocking me. I found two pairs of “OK” sunglasses at Lens Crafters, but in all honesty do I want to pay $200 for a pair that I am just okay with? I decided to hold off and keep looking. I am thinking about giving up and just getting what I like without a prescription. Who cares if I can’t see tiny things like street signs? I know where I am going most of the time.
Here are some really cute sunglasses that I can’t have…
From Chanel … do you think the flowers are too much? Doesn’t matter I guess. They are out of my budget.
From Chanel … sigh

From Dolce & Gabbana - apparently they all have 20/20 vision

These are my favorites from Burberry. They are almost my entire budget and I can’t get them with prescription lenses.

Online Boutique: How Cute is Ippie?!
As mentioned before I would like to start sharing some unique finds I see on the Internet to support small business. This week I found the link for Ippie Design.
Sandy Ip is a twenty-something girl like myself, but she lives in NYC. Lucky her. She started Ippie designs in 2005 because she says
seeing “the same, tired styles of jewelry from department stores to specialty boutiques to street vendors, I’m left feeling very unsatisfied…that’s the main reason I wanted to create a new brand of jewelry that is refreshing and different, something special, something rare…”
She has successfully created a collection that is “refreshing” and “special”. I own almost all silver jewelery and I thought that Ippie’s designs were simple and classic, yet unique. Something dangling, like her Sterling Silver Teardrop Filigree Hoops would be great for a special occasion but her simple studs make really special everyday jewelery. Her prices are very affordable as well. Check out her store if you get a chance.
Sterling Silver Teardrop Filigree Earrings $60

Sterling Silver Diamond Shaped Studs with Cubic Zirconia $35
Sterling Silver Round Shaped Studs with Cubic Zirconia $35

Two of the Best Products Made for Women EVER
This week I read about two fascinating new products that I have to share.
First, in the October issue of W magazine I read a short description of a product that should revolutionize women’s hygiene. The No!No! is an at-home hair removal tool that promises to decrease hair growth as efficiently as laser hair removal. Apparently it’s the size of a mini men’s electric razor but it uses heat to weakens the hair follicle, rendering it incapable of growth over time. The company guarantees (which means that you should be under a warranty) that if used twice a week it will reduce hair growth by 64% in 4 months. Supposedly there is no pain. It only feels warm and apparently gives of the smell of burnt hair (I think I can deal with that). I have always wanted laser hair removal but it is way too expensive. The best news about the No!No! is that it is only $250 at Sephora! I want it! I would gladly pay that much and what is to stop me from passing my gadget along to maybe my sisters after I am hair free. Sounds too good to be true. Anyone heard about this??
The other thing I read about on What Every Woman Needs in Her Wardrobe is Duo Boots. They are not just any old boots. These boots come in sizes for you foot and your calf. I can finally get a pair of knee-high boots that don’t have a 2″ gap in between my calf and the leather! Or if you have the opposite problem and you can’t zip up the average pair because you have gorgeous muscular legs (yes, I hate you) then don’t worry. These boots come in calf sizes 30cm - 50cm. The only problem is that they are about $230 which means I can’t have them. Poo. Please, any American shoe company that may read this … Nine West, Naturalizer, Aldo … please develop these shoes for the average shopper at around $100 - 200 price range. We would forever be in your debt.
