Target Copies J Crew Well

OK. So which do you like better. On the left are a pair of “Lizzie patent-leather driving mocs” I saw in the J Crew catalog and kind of liked (despite the fact that they are very preppy, and very expensive at $135). On the right are a pair of Women’s Merona Marcela Moccasins in Mustard at a mere $22.99. But I got to tell you, I saw them in person and hated them. Why are the ones on the left cooler than those on the right? Is it just the brand name? The color?

(Left) J Crew Blue Mocs $135; (Right) Target Isaac Mizrahi Rory Moccasins $29.99
(Left) Printed Calf Hair Ballet Flats J Crew $268; (Right) Target Merona Meadow Ballet Flats $24.99

Wow! (Left) Penelope Mary Janes J Crew $235; (Right) Mossimo Vester Mary Jane Pumps $24.99

Anne Taylor Loft Finds
I have never been a huge fan of Anne Taylor because I tend to have trouble fitting into their clothing. They seem to cut everything a little on the boxy side. But then a friend of mine was wearing a pair of these beauties at the beach.

They are $34 for a pair, which is pricey, but come in all these cute bright colors (and P.S right now they are buy one pair get the second 50% off). I really fell in love at first site. I decided to splurge and stopped by Anne Taylor Loft, only to find it was one of those days when everything in the store is 20% off. This relieved me of the shame of spending $34 on flip-flops and I bought them in white, reduced.
I was about to walk out the door when I saw this adorable sweater sitting on a table …

I love the whole nautical look for summer and it has these cute extra buttons on the sleeve that are a nice extra detail. But it was a whopping $49. So I went in the dressing room, tried on my size, to make sure I liked it, took a picture with my camera phone and put it back on the shelf.
Here is the brilliant part. When I got home I went on StyleNotes and set up an alert to receive all of the upcoming coupons and codes for Anne Taylor. Two weeks later I got a coupon for 25% off and free shipping. Sweet deal huh? I paid only $36 for the sweater and it got delivered right to my door. The catch of course is that right now it is $29! Ugh. I guess I should have waited a little longer.
Here are some of the other things I took a pic of and are waiting for a sale on …

Polka Dot Wrap Top: $39 (wont pay over $20 for this)

Crocs Save a Rainy Morning?

It’s about 75 degrees in Florida and raining. I am like a cat and hate to get wet so it is already putting a damper on my day. I am getting ready for work trying to pick out the final touches to my outfit for the day. What shoes to wear? It’s hot so I want my feet to breathe. How about a cute pair of flip-flops?
No way. In rainy weather my feet will get soaked and I will be sliding and squeaking my way to work.
OK, ballet flats without socks? That way my feet can breathe without the open toes.
Nope. All my ballet flats are fabric and will get ruined. Flats are still messy when you get rain water in them, plus they are low so the backs of my pants will be damp and muddy.
Sneakers? They suck with the outfit I have on but my feet will stay dry.
Nope. One large puddle and I now have a wet sneaker, sock and foot. Plus I hate ruining a great pair of sneakers by getting them dirty one time, because as we all know that is all it takes.
OK. Heeled leather boots. This is the only answer. This will work but is 75 degree muggy weather who really wants to wear a pair of heeled boots with socks underneath?
Yes, I know I am biggest complainer ever but I think I found a reasonable solution. Plastic ballet crocs. I can throw them on and roll my pants leg up once and walk to and from my car. Who cares if they get dirty… they are plastic and I can rinse them off later. I will throw a cute pair of dressy flats in my bag for the rest of the day so they don’t ruin my outfit. At lot of people don’t like the look of crocs but these can slide by with a purpose. Who would have guessed. Gosh, all this thought into my shoe selection is making me tired.

Last chance at $10 Off at Aerie
I have mentioned in the past that I really like American Eagle’s Aerie collection. Mostly because their underwear allow me have my ass covered comfortably, so I don’t feel like I have a wedgie all day, yet they are not considered hideous “granny panties”. Well, I am a little late in sharing this, but for the next two days (that’s March 12th) you can get $10 off one of Aerie’s bras. Plus free shipping and free returns. Just enter this coupon code at checkout … 34939822. Since I haven’t bought bras in over two years (I have been avoiding the dreadfulness of bra shopping) I already got one. Hmm, maybe I should buy two.
