Need to Unpack But Instead I am Blogging

It has been a little quiet at juicefairy.com, I know.  Unfortunately, I had to take a little bit of a unplanned sabbatical from the blog for a few weeks.

We moved into our house, as planned, two weeks ago and then went into a frenzy trying to get it livable which kept me away.  At the same time my workload at the day job became almost unmanageable.  I attended a two day workshop that kept me away from my desk on top of that.  It was so stressful that week that I wanted to just crawl up in bed and sleep the time away but that, of course, was not an option.

When you move you are prepared to do the basic things: buy your essential appliances and schedule a delivery, make sure your mail is forwarded, get your power, water and gas turned on, pick up your new mail keys, get cable hooked up and so on and so on and so on. The crappy part is that you have to do about 90% of these things during your work hours, which makes juggling work and personal responsibilities difficult.  And then nothing goes as smoothly as planned.

Here is my list of gripes to the people who made my move as difficult and inefficient as possible:

  • Thank you Comcast (the worst cable company ever) for making me drive 40 minutes out of my way just to pick up the basic equipment I needed for cable, rather than just coming and setting it up for me like my last cable company did.  Then of course, it didn’t work and you just had to come out and fix it anyway.  Oh yeah, and thanks for screwing me over and not coming on the day that you planned the appointment leaving me without internet for a painful amount of time.
  • Thank you Best Buy for sending an incompetent delivery man to drop off my washer and dryer.  The one that didn’t know how to install it.  Then you sent me a “technician” to install my gas dryer who wasted my time when he couldn’t complete the job because of his own misinformation.
  • Thanks to the drywall repair man who fixed everything that I paid him to do, beautifully … but leaving a hole in my ceiling just before departing.
  • Thanks to the selling Realtor who represented the seller we bought the house from.  Your laziness and disdain for you job made this whole process a hell of a lot harder, and lost us money in the process (a whole situation I wont go into for fear of making my eyeball explode from anger).
  • And finally thanks to the homeowners association who not only didn’t welcome us to the neighborhood but also made us jump through hoops to get an access pass to the front gate of our neighborhood.  Getting all of the necessary documents you needed kept us from having a gate pass for two weeks!

Actually I could keep going but it will just make me mad.  Bottom line, buying a house and moving is an overall sucky process!  I am so glad it is over and apologize for my absence.   I will be posting about a few cool things in the new few weeks to make up for it …

  • A mascara review … can’t get thick lashes.
  • My introduction to Beauty Addicts, a program for … well, beauty addicts
  • I will show you my DIY wedding invites and the wedding dress I bought.

Despite your moving misfortunes I enjoyed your sacartic tone on all of your ‘thank yous’! Big, nameless companies like Comcast are the worst for customer service and delivery woes! I hear ya! Curious to hop onto your mascara review!
