DIY Wedding Projects That Might Save Some Dough

For those with talent make your own cake topper! You can buy the kit here from Goose Grease.
One of the ways that I am trying to save money on my wedding is by doing some DIY projects. I have already designed my save-the-dates, invitations, my place cards, and table cards. I also created my place card holders, bought and put together everything I need for a candy bar, and am doing my own favors. The hard part is only doing as many projects as you can handle so you avoid stressing yourself out. I had to cut out a whole lot of cute projects because I was afraid of losing my mind. Here are some cool DIY templates on the net that can help you cut some costs and add some flair to your wedding. Did I mention they are free?!
- Color Me Inspired was kind enough to share free printable templates for wedding fans in their “southern romance” color palette. Great for an outdoor wedding!
- Every bride makes about a zillion wedding “to-do” lists. Try these templates from How About Orange that can help organize and prioritize your to-do lists. They are pretty too.
- Not all brides can afford calligraphers. Martha Stewart can save you money with this template for pretty wrap-around mailing labels. I actually used this template as the basis for my invitation labels and they came out great!
- One of my favorite DIY projects is this Bridal Party Survival Kit from iDIY. They are cute little packages to give your bridesmaids on the day of the wedding for all of their possible emergency needs — like band aids for those blisters, and safety pins for those wardrobe malfunctions.
- Create a special centerpiece for your candy bar with a Lollipop Tree from the Martha Stewart blog. They show you how to make it here and give you the template for the flag.
- Invitations can be pretty expensive so why not make your own? Don’t be intimidated since you can try a lovely Dahlia invitation template for your wedding invite by Wedding Chicks or maybe this cute invitation template from Melissa Esplin for your bridal shower.
- Vert shares free templates for votive wraps used to decorate candle favors or votive table decorations.
- Wedding Chicks also has a variety of cute templates that could add some pretty touches to your special day. Try wine bottles with these labels for table centerpieces, or vintage save-the-date postcards.
- Wedding Bee shares a do-not-disturb hanger you can give to your out-of-town guests in their welcome baskets.
Anyone have any DIY templates that they are using for their wedding and would like to share?

[…] want to say a special thanks to Creature Comforts, DIY Bride, Joie de Vie, Juicy Fairy and our new twitter friends for featuring Color Me Inspired this […]
That’s pretty cute! It shows that you really care as well - everyone else will have bought some thoughtless present so yours will stand out.
Really cool idea, weddings can be so expensive nowadays, that anything you can do to save money is great =D And plus… this is a fun project =D
Till then,
Jean
I love this blog and all of the great budget-friendly wedding ideas! My wedding was 10 yrs ago, but I was a bridesmaid last month and will be again in just over a week! I’ll be sure to let other bride-to-be friends know about your great ideas and point them to your site!
Have been using some of these in the lead up to my nuptials. Very useful, thanks.
