Where Can I Find Beautiful Bedding?

The other day I wrote about my uncomfortable registering experience with Mr. Juicefairy.  It got me thinking about what I could add to our registry that we need and I thought of something … bedding!

A while back I posted when I purchased the duvet set I have now; a pretty solid blue-green set from Restoration Hardware that was on clearance for around $50.  It was very pretty … until I washed it!  Two or three washes in the duvet started getting pink spots on it.  I have no idea where they came from.  I know it’s not bleach because we don’t use bleach in the laundry.  Anyway, now it has been a year and a half and its looking pretty shabby.  I guess I only got my $50 worth.

We also only have one set of sheets, so from many many washings I have had to sew the many seams that have come undone.  My sheets have seen better days. I would love to have two new sets that I can rotate.

So now I am once again on the search for a new duvet set.  I found the blog Bedding Envy which posts a bedding new set everyday and it has been helpful.  I also have been  searching the websites of my favorite stores Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, Pottery Barn & Restoration Hardware looking at what they have.  I just have not had any luck finding what I want yet.  Partially because I don’t want to spend more an $120 on a duvet.  Anything more seems extravagent for something I sleep on I think.  The other thing is that it has to be a shade of blue.  Mr. Juicefairy will really only be happy if it’s blue.

Does anyone have a duvet with a coverlet over it?  Do people do that anymore?  It would be nice to have a plain duvet that I can wash regularly and then have a pretty coverlet for show.

Here are a few contenders of duvets.  Not sure if any are “the one” though.  Anyone have any ideas of a place I haven’t looked at yet?  Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Croscill Faith Blue Luxury 4-piece Duvet Cover Set, Overstock.com, $79.99,Cotton

Anyone buy anything from Overstock before?  I have never heard of this brand before so I am afraid that it will look cheap when I get it home.

Idea Nuova Carissa Bed In a Bag, Found on Everything Turquoise, $88.25-$99.99, Cotton

Sadly this is not a duvet which is too bad.  But it is pretty so maybe I could try it?

I just bought this ensemble and I LOVE it! It is gorgeous. I have an obsession with bedding AND paisley so you can imagine how excited I was to come across this set.
I painted my bedroom Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware and my bed is upholstered in a khaki color…I think it all looks great together.
I don’t know how it will hold up as I plan to wash it myself instead of dry-cleaning it as the label instructs. I have a front-loader and will use the delicate cycle.
You can’t go wrong with this one…it has a little more pizazz than the others your are considering but it’s very muted so it’s not too busy.

I was interested in this Raymond Waites Luxe duvet cover. Have you washed it? Did it turn out ok?

Sue,
I actually ended up going with a different set from BB&B. You can see it here http://juicefairy.com/2009/07/27/our-pick-for-new-bedding/
