Dionne Designs Lingerie

stacey_dash.jpg

Anybody remember this girl? It’s Dionne from Clueless! Actually, her real name is Stacey Dash and she was is the February issue of W Magazine.  I was surprised to see that she has this lingerie line called Letters of Marque. I thought I would share a couple of pictures with you because it is really beautiful.

It has this old world, Pirates of the Caribbean feel to it, which fits the name of her line perfectly. Dash says in the interview with W that she wanted to “bring pretty sexy back, without being too provocative” and I think that is what I found so intriguing about her stuff. It is so pretty and light, not vampy and promiscuous looking.

I also had no idea that she was in the August 2006 issue of Playboy (not a magazine I read often) and guess how old she i?? She is 42! There is no way this gorgeous mother of two is 42. I think imdb.com made a mistake. I want to know her beauty secrets.

Unfortunately her lingerie line is only available in Lingerie on Lex in New York and Ann Dessous in Berlin (obviously places this poor girl from Orlando has never even heard of)  but maybe a designer for Target, or some other discount clothing store, will take a cue from Stacey and make and inexpensive version of her lingerie.  Some girls can’t pull off the Very Sexy Victoria Secret type of lingerie.  It’s just looks plain awkward.

On A Spending Fast …

piggy_bank.jpg

I screwed up. Over the past two weeks I got my hair done (highlights that look super cute) and I paid my bill to get my wisdom teeth pulled (tomorrow ugh). But I didn’t exactly budget well so I sort of ran out of money until payday… the 15th! Not good.

So I have decided to do an experiment and try not to spend any money until the 14th. I always read on frugality blogs about people who stopped buying for a period of time to save money and I think I can do this. How hard could it be? The only exceptions will be medications (for numbing my oral surgery).

I will also not spend on food if I can help it. I had enough meals planned and groceries bought to last me and my boyfriend til next week, plus this will be an opportunity to clean out the cupboard.

Boyfriend and I had planned to eat Chinese take-out on Valentines Day (a sort of tradition of ours) so that is why I stopped the buying until then. But his card is going to have to be hand made this year. I know I need deodorant but I have a travel size one that can hold me over til the 14th. Other than that I see no problems with it. I am going to be laid up this weekend recuperating so this should be a piece of cake!

Wish me luck!

Dwell Studios Designs for Target

dwell-target.jpg

I was so excited to read on Apartment Therapy that Dwell Studios had designed a line of affordable home decor products for Target. I mentioned a while back how much I loved Dwell bedding but it was so out of my price range. Apartment Therapy’s blog is showing the six upcoming designs for Target with their new prices.

Comforter Sets: Twin ($80), Full/Queen ($90), King ($100)
Duvet Sets: Twin ($70), Full/Queen ($80), King ($90)
Sheets: Twin ($30), Full ($40), Queen ($50), King ($60), California King ($60). Reversible Pillows at $20 a piece.

These prices beat those of Dwell’s regular lines. For example, the bedding below is the gorgeous print with a hefty price tag of $264 for just the duvet set.

But look how similar the Target Baroque bedding is … at a much better price.

There does not appear to be a date when all this fab stuff is appearing in Target, just sometime this month. Target is only advertising the Dwell Baby Collection at the moment, which is lovely but really not interesting to an single gal. Can’t you just tell us so I don’t have to keep going back to your site everyday?

Now for the icing! They apparently are going to have kitchen accessories as well… like these cute place-mats at $4 a piece.

Here is the sneek peak at some of the other kitchen items they are going to carry. I am going to have to start saving money to get a few things because I have a feeling I am going to fall in love.

Some of the commenters on Apartment Therapy’s blog have mentioned that the quality of their designer lines has been lacking and that the pricing is merely a reflection of that. I would be disappointed if the stuff was 100 thread count and chintzy looking. We will see.

Donuts That Don’t Make Your Ass Fat

holey_donuts.jpg

iVillage sent me an email today telling me about donuts that are Holey Donuts,“zero trans fats, very low total fat (only 3 to 4 grams of total fat per donut vs. 20 grams of fat in other donuts!)”. Isn’t that an oxymoron? How is that possible? People must have been curious because Holy Donut’s website was down the rest of the afternoon.

Holey claims that …

  • There is no greasy aftertaste
  • They don’t add artificial sweeteners or fat substitutes
  • Their cooking process avoids deep frying so they are light and fluffy

They sound horrible! But people are claiming they taste just as good as the fatty ones. I think this passionate donut eater says it best.

To order a dozen of these delectable treats they are a whopping $23.95 which is pricey. But here is the kicker… to ship them to Florida it was an extra $17.80! Damn. But it appears that is the only way you can treat yourself. I guess I will wait until Starbucks carries them.

Mmmm… MakeUp

I made a secret promise to myself to try and not spend any money on makeup… because I don’t need any makeup.  If I lived to be 100 and wore a full face of makeup every day for the rest of my life I probably wouldn’t run out of makeup.

That being said, they have these Pop Beauty Eye palettes at Ulta that I have been eyeing.  But, geez, they are $32.  That is a little steep.  They have a palette for blue, brown and green eyes.  They are so pretty… I want.
