This weekend boyfriend and I stopped at Whole Foods to look for some produce. I picked up two Bosc pears that looked good for using in the Apple Pear Crisp from Barefoot Contessa I was going to make. Boyfriend picked up a small cup of decaf coffee and we got on line. The girl behind the counter said $6.10 and I gave her a $20 bill. After getting my change back I stood there looking at it in my hand and it occurred to me … I just paid $4.60 for two pears! Given they were organic, but still, that is the most expensive pear I have ever bought. I didn’t pay attention to the price when I picked them up because I never would have guessed they were $2 a piece! They weren’t even the ripest pears I have ever had. What a rip.

Wow, they were indeed very expensive…. how did the apple pear crisp turn out though?? I love Barefoot Contessa!!
CanadianSaver - Actually I am not sure how the recipe is. My boyfriend insisted that we make a different recipe where you use Splenda brown sugar for the crumble topping. It was awful. I don’t like the after taste from Splenda and pears tend to make that after taste a little more apparent. I am sure that the Barefoot Contessa one is much better. I am still planning to try that one.
