Recently when reading a blog about shopping I noticed that the author mentioned earning money at mypoints.com.  Any good saver/shopper would head right over to the site to see what it is all about and I am glad I did.  This site is a great way to earn gift cards to a variety of popular stores.

After you opening an account there are a variety of ways that you can earn points.  You can cash in these earned points for your free gift card.  Here are the ways you earn points…

•  Read email - MyPoints respects your inbox and rewards you for reading emails from our partners.  JF-They basically send you a newsletter featuring different companies they work with.  If you buy or sign up with those companies through the newsletter you earn points.  I have NEVER done this, not do I suggest anyone do.  But you always get 5 points for just clicking on the email.  No buying, no strings, just go to the site.  I have already earned 300 points this way.  I haven’t spent any money or signed up for any offers.

• Shop Online - Shop through email offers or visit our website. Virtually everything you need you can find on MyPoints. The more you shop, the more Points you’ll earn.  It is true that almost any store that you shop at is listed and if you shop through the mypoints site you can earn points from your favorite stores.  I don’t buy much online because I think it is a waste of money (don’t get me started on that) but if I was planning to buy something, I might as well do it through their site and earn points at the same time.

• Take Surveys - The world’s top companies want to know what you think about their products. MyPoints members earn Points for completing online surveys.  So far I have only taken one survey.  They were the most basic questions, they didn’t ask for any information that would regret later and I earned 60 points.

So the catch would be

1. Dont get sucked into buying stuff online that you normally wouldnt buy.  It isnt worth it.  I am sure that this is the way these companies make most of their money.
2. You will get a lot of email from them.  But 5 points per email is worth it if I get a $25 gift certifictae to Macy’s.
3. How many points does a Macy’s gift certificate cost… 3,250 points.  And there ladies and gentlemen is the catch.
